Singing Star Competition: The finals of the
Singing Star Competition will be held at the
Auditorium of Tessensohn Clubhouse on 15
November 2015. Watch the 10 finalists vying
for the Pop Idol category and the 8 finalists
for the Evergreen category compete for a top
prize of $1,000, a trophy, three vocal lessons
with Wu Jia Ban Vocal Training School and a
makeover and photography session for four.
We urge the finalists’ colleagues across the
various Ministries to rally behind their friends
by attending the final and cheering them
on! Refreshments will be provided after the
winners are announced.
Year-End Countdown Party: An annual key
attraction for adult members is undoubtedly
the year-end countdown party at Orchard
Hotel. For $90, members will enjoy free
corkage, a free bottle of Choya Umeshu
Gold Edition, a sumptuous eight-course
sit-down dinner, a sure-win table draw prize,
entertainment with three stage performances
emceed by Mr. Eddie Singh and lucky draw
prizes, including the top lucky draw prize of a
return air ticket for two to Europe by Singapore
Airlines. Members and public officers, book
your tickets early to prevent disappointment!

Changi Resort:
Party the night away
with not one but
two parties at
Changi Resort.
There will be a fun
cosmic bowl party.
Meyer House will be
organising in-house party
with live band, free flow tapas and lucky draw.

Sports Activities
Run By The Bay: Run By The Bay 2015 will be
held at The Float in Marina Bay on 8 November
between 5am and 11am. This year, we have
introduced the 21 km run to replace the 15 km
run. Interestingly, this category attracted the
most participants with more than 1,700 runners.
Overall, we have 1,200 more runners this year
compared to the previous year. The other
categories of 10 km run and 5 km also saw an
increase in the number of participants. Barring
the haze, the runners of the 21 km run will enjoy The results should be
a scenic route of Raffles Place, Marina Bay,
Gardens By the Bay and the National Stadium.
For those who are participating in the 5 km
fun run, do deck up in your fancy costumes as
there is a best-dressed competition for both
individual and family categories.
Singapore Duathlon: Due to the
rescheduling, registration for all race
and age categories is now re-opened till
16 November 2015. All Singapore public officers
and civil service members get 20% discount
on standard and sprint distances. Sign up at

IT Matters
Micro-Sites: The micro-sites for Changi
and Tessensohn Clubhouses have been
completed. Members can surf these sites for
more information regarding the respective
Clubhouses that they are interested to visit and
book their preferred activities. These micro-
sites will be progressively enhanced with virtual
tour applications so that members and public
officers can visit the facilities and conduct a
virtual tour to view the facilities in the comfort
of their homes or via mobile platforms. The
Tessensohn Clubhouse micro-site will be the
first site to have this application while the Bukit linkway has been designed to be eco-friendly
Batok Clubhouse micro-site will be operational
by end of December 2015, with the virtual
application incorporated into the micro-site.
The Changi Clubhouse micro-site will be
incorporated with this application in the last
quarter of this financial year.
Safety Matters
Swimming Pool Safety: Recently, we noticed
an increase in the number of near-drowning
incidents in our swimming pools. Many of these
incidents occurred when children wandered
to the deep end of the pool without adult
supervision. Parents and guardians are reminded
that each child should be accompanied by an
adult when swimming in the pool area and
please be aware that the lifeguard on duty will
strictly enforce this.
External Survey
Research Plus has completed the external
survey for the Club. There are three objectives
that the Club wanted to achieve in this
independent survey. The Club wanted to
obtain members’ feedback on their experience
when they visit the Club and how they
visualise the Club to be over the next few
years. Secondly, the Club wants to understand
what discourages public officers from being
Club members. Lastly, to have independent
feedback on the service levels we are providing.
The survey methods consisted of e-surveys,
person-to-person interviews
and mystery shoppers.

Clubhouses
Bukit Batok Clubhouse:
The much-awaited Brilliant Kids Learning
Cove, by the Modern Montessori International
Pre-School Centre, has commenced its
enrolment; commencement date is on
2 November 2015. Parents who are interested
to find out more can visit the Centre located on
Level 2 of the Bukit Batok Clubhouse. Members
will enjoy discounts when they enrol their
children at the Centre.
Changi Clubhouse:
Linkway: The construction of the linkway
that shelters guests staying in Villa A and B1
has been completed. We thank our guests
who stayed in these villas for the past two
months for their patience and understanding.
The linkway will enhance the experience of
guests, keeping them dry from the rain when
they move from the carpark to their villa. The

the Club is also exploring building permanent
shelters for the barbecue areas at the villas

Tessensohn Clubhouse:
Clubhouse Signage: By the end of November
2015, the Tessensohn Clubhouse signage will
be refreshed with more visible and modern
graphics to enable easier navigation. Signage that
needs to be visible at night will be illuminated
to facilitate members and guests. We welcome
your feedback on this new signage.
It has been a hectic year for the Club.
However it is all worth it when we see the
transformation of Changi Clubhouse and
the improvements made in various aspects
of infrastructure and IT upgrades to enable
members to have a better experience when
visiting and communicating with the Club. I
wish our members and their families good
health, happiness, a joyous Christmas and a
great year in 2016!
