Foresight and thinking long-term were pivotal to ministry of educations
win at the 2013 public service basketball tournament. We believe in the
long-term development of our players, says teo siang Yang, team manager.
We started planning and recruiting players in January and have provided Womens open
support to all teams in their training. champion: ministry of education (1)
1st runner-Up: ministry of education (2)
highly skilled players were part of the equation too. many of our players 2nd runner-Up: ministry of health
are experienced and play for the national basketball League, siang Yang 3rd runner-Up: ministry of home Affairs
said.
Mens open
the tournament ended with a fourish, with the moe teams clinching the champion: ministry of education (1)
top spots in both the womens and mens categories and emerging overall 1st runner-Up: ministry of defence
champion. however, victory did not come easy, especially for the mens 2nd runner-Up: ministry of home affairs
team which had to battle hard with the ministry of defence team in the 3rd runner-Up: ministry of education (3)
fnal before winning the match by a marginal two points.
overall Position
held over a period from 3 october to 20 november, the basketball champion: ministry of education
tournament saw participation by 34 teams from 18 government agencies. Joint 1st runner-Up: ministry of defence and ministry of home Affairs

top Spot

close to 270 table-tennis enthusiasts from 19 government agencies gathered
at the club hdb from 17 september to 7 october to compete for honours
in the public service table tennis tournament 2013.

Although ministry of education (moe) came in top in the Womens category,
the ministry of home Affairs (mhA) was slightly ahead on points after its
team fought hard to emerge victorious in the mens senior category. ministry
of home Affairs was declared the overall champion after moe lost to mindef
in the mens open fnals.
Alan Wong, mhA team manager said, the camaraderie displayed during the
tough matches spurred all the team members to persevere and ultimately win
the championship title at the table tennis tournament. the mhA womens
team performed beyond expectation. this was the frst time our womens
team made it to the fnals, Alan said. the mhA womens team narrowly lost
the top spot to the moe team.
Guest-of-honour mr Jerry Lim, csc exco member was the Guest-of-honour
and presented prizes to the winning teams.
