For many in the public service, the Civil Service Club (CSC) is more than just a place to visit. It is a familiar space that quietly becomes a part of their everyday life – one with you throughout different stages of your career and personal journey. CSC continues to celebrate the people and places that bring the Public Service family closer together.
Through the decades, CSC has championed active lifestyles through sports, recreation and family events, creating opportunities for public officers to connect beyond the workplace. At heart, CSC has always been about people — a welcoming space where members build lasting bonds and a sense of belonging.
Today, CSC remains a cornerstone of camaraderie and care within the Public Service community — a place where shared experiences bring generations together and where every member can feel at home.

Where work, play and family come together
At any CSC clubhouse, connections happen naturally. It’s not unusual to bump into fellow public officers on the pickleball court or at the next dining table — a reflection of how CSC has become a familiar part of public officers’ daily lives. Many members now include the club in their weekly routines, drawn by its exclusive perks, family-friendly facilities and welcoming atmosphere.
For Ms Lin Xinyi, a public officer and CSC member since 2023, CSC @ Tessensohn has become her family’s go-to spot for weekend activities. Between swimming sessions and wall climbing, she also appreciates the convenience of CoWork@Gov, a quiet workspace near home where she can focus without distractions.

“I’m grateful that CSC looks after members beyond their stay at the clubhouses,” she says. “There are great perks like discounted movie screenings at Shaw — it’s nice to see benefits that extend beyond physical spaces.”
As a parent, Ms Lin also values CSC’s multi-generational appeal, which she says brings families closer. “The most memorable activity for my family was Members’ Day in 2024, where we took part in bowling. It was my child’s first experience with the game, and she fell in love with it.”
Over time, CSC has become a shared space for parents, grandparents and children alike; a reminder that time spent together is time well spent.

Finding friendship and fun at CSC
A quick scroll through CSC’s events listing shows what’s happening across clubhouses—from the weekly yoga classes at Tessensohn to art activities at Changi. Whether you’re a young officer joining a new interest group or a retired officer enjoying a quick workout, CSC’s activities connect generations of public officers through shared experiences and values.
For Public Officer Mr Lim Wen Sheng, who has been a CSC member for just over a year, the club has become a regular part of family life. Every few months, he visits Planet Bowl at CSC @ Tessensohn with his loved ones or joins team-bonding activities with his colleagues. His first experience at a CSC bowling championship still stands out.
“Once, we were divided into mixed groups of four to compete in a bowling competition,” he recalls. “We ended up laughing hysterically — the shared incompetence outside of our professional roles created immediate warmth and camaraderie.”
He adds that the most successful teams weren’t necessarily the ones with the best skills, but those that communicated best. “We shouted instructions, offered encouragement and improvised when a teammate’s ball went off course,” he says. “At CSC, we saw strengths like calmness under pressure and leadership come to life in unexpected ways—things that don’t always show up in an office setting.”
It’s this blend of fun, friendship and self-discovery that keeps members coming back. Events like CSC Members’ Day and the Tessensohn Carnival Bazaar also give families the chance to enjoy the club together — and sometimes even recruit new members along the way. “My wife was so impressed by the event that she signed up for a supplementary membership right after,” says Mr Lim.
At CSC, community is built through these moments — the laughter, the friendly competition and the simple joy of being part of something shared.

CSC continues to evolve with the times, enhancing both its facilities and member experience to meet changing lifestyles. From digital upgrades like the Virtual Supplementary Membership and members’ portal for easy bookings to the introduction of new events and activities, the club is always finding ways to make recreation more accessible and rewarding.
This responsiveness is something members notice and appreciate. Ms Lin, for instance, points to the club’s welcoming staff and thoughtful wellness initiatives. “I took part in workout sessions at Revvo Academy of Wellness and found that the instructors were extremely friendly and attentive to people of different fitness levels,” she shares. “My experience with the clubhouse reception staff has also been stellar — they’re always welcoming and eager to help.”
CSC’s inclusivity also shines through in its amenities and programming, from halal dining options to activities that cater to different generations. And with popular sports like pickleball being introduced at the clubhouses, members can look forward to even more opportunities to stay active and engaged.

For Mr Lim, events like CSC Members’ Day best represent the club’s commitment to community and innovation. “The event is designed to cater to everyone,” he notes. “Families with children having fun at carnival booths show that the club truly values the family unit and a holistic, healthy lifestyle. At the same time, bringing together hundreds of people from various agencies and their families promotes the powerful message of ‘One Public Service.’”
Mr Lim also welcomes the reciprocal arrangement with HomeTeamNS, which allows CSC members to enjoy HomeTeamNS facilities at special rates. “This creates a wider sense of community and camaraderie, uniting a larger base of public officers and national servicemen through shared leisure and family time,” he says.

Strengthening bonds now and beyond
In an age where digital interactions often replace face-to-face ones, CSC remains a place for genuine connection. Beyond its facilities and events, what truly defines CSC is its people — members, families and staff who make every visit meaningful.
CSC stands out as a space where work and life naturally intersect. As Ms Lin shares, “CSC is a convenient, one-stop place for both work and life, where you can see agencies holding their work events while members enjoy activities like exercise and swimming. I hope it continues to improve and innovate.” The seamless coexistence of productivity and leisure reflects CSC’s role as a vibrant community hub that supports the members in their professional and well-being experiences.
The next time you visit a CSC clubhouse, take a moment to appreciate the legacy of the Public Service community — before diving into the pool or heading to the bowling alley. Whether you’re a newly joined officer or a retired veteran, CSC is, and will always be, a place built with you in mind — a true home away from home.
