MHA Grabs The Beach Volleyball Grand Slam!

STRIKING fast and furious, 25 teams from 11 government organisations vied for the top spot in the Public Service Beach
Volleyball Tournament held at the Bishan Active Beach Volleyball Court from 6 to 22 May 2013.
It concluded with the mens teams from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) powering past
the challenges put up by opponents; to sweep the top four spots in the mens category. The training
put in by MHAs team members had paid off as they displayed traits that are typical of the Home
Team in strength, dexterity as well as agility, putting up a formidable front with fearsome smashes
and impressive spikes.
In the womens category, it was the team from the Ministry of Education (MOE) that came
in first after facing stiff competition from Central Provident Fund Board in the finals. The womens
team from MHA claimed the third place while the Peoples Association came in fourth.
In the end, a glorious finale was delivered and an overall victory based on points was
MoE triumphant in the Womens open rewarded to MHA in the beach volleyball tournament.

MOE Bowlers Bowling Par Excellence

IN a world of strikes and spares, competition was keen for 1000 bowlers who gathered at Westwood Bowl at Bukit Batok
Clubhouse for the Public Service Bowling Competition held from 24 April to 18 May 2013. Its undoubtedly one of the most
popular games in the Public Service STAR Games series.
The teams from Ministry of Education (MOE) once again kept their composure to top the finals of the women
and mixed categories held on 16 and 18 May 2013 respectively. With the triumphs, MOE went on to seal the overall
championship. Last year, during the 9-pin tap tournament, we did not perform to
expectation for the mixed category and the title was shared with HDB. This time,
we brought back the trophy. It is one of our best results so far, said team MOEs
kingpin and convenor Zhou Wencong. The Nanyang Technological University
team secured the Mens active agers category.
Teamwork and commitment are the focus of MOEs team members
and they were so cohesive that they never failed to lunch together after a
competition. They maintained form by training together or taking part in
other competitions. The hard work has indeed paid off for MOEs league of Striking up a winning streak!

Thrills Aplenty As MOE Futsal Team Is Crowned

ALL eyes were on the court; their bodies glued to their seats as the Ministry
of Education (MOE) went head to head against the Ministry of Home Affair
(MHA) for the top spot in the Public Service Futsal Tournament. Both teams
displayed impressive ball handling skills and agile dribbling techniques at
the tournament to reach the final in a field of 42 teams from 20 government
agencies. After a hard-fought match, MOE secured supremacy over MHAs
Gurkhas!
Held at the Choa Chu Kang Sports Hall on Saturday, 18 May 2013, the
tournament felt like a carnival to MOEs team manager Abdul Nasir, a MoE team reigning supreme overall
participant of such matches since 1990. It was a jubilant moment for him where
clever tactics in blending the young and experienced players coupled with
players dedication shaped the teams success.
One of the star players, Khairul Abdillah practices every week with the teams core players. A street soccer player at six
years old, he was especially elated when MOE regained the title after losing it for the past two years. He said, The last time
my team emerged as champions was in 2010 where we (won) by the same goal margin as this year, three goals to nil!
