chinese calligraphy is an art unique to asian cultures. during the imperial era, calligraphy was even used as an important criterion for the selection
of executives to the imperial court! it is the art of writing chinese characters using brushes. By controlling the ink concentration, thickness and
absorptivity of the paper as well as brush fexibility, the artist can produce an infnite variety of styles and forms.

calligraphy is also a way of keeping one ft and healthy. historically, many calligraphy artists were known for their longevity. come and share the
joy of appreciating chinese calligraphy with Wong Joon tai, a keen learner of the art.

the course will touch on:
chinese calligraphy as a unique form of chinese arts:
the philosophy, chinese characters, etc.
appreciation of chinese calligraphy
Practice of chinese calligraphy: sitting postures and brush movements
demonstrations on chinese calligraphy writing
