cSc ride to
KAMPUNG TEMASEK

11 cyclists from the CsC Cycling Club
ventured out of singapore from 12 to 13
april 2014 to visit Kampung Temasek in
Ulu Tiram, Johor. even a sudden downpour
that morning could not stop them from
leaving home for the much awaited out-
station ride!

kampung temasek, located about 30km from the causeway, offers many
opportunities for outdoor pursuits. the rural areas in Ulu tiram offer an
exciting ride through plantations, rolling hills and a scenic countryside with
hardly any traffc. off-road cycling through rubber and oil palm plantations
and around a nearby lake offers the young at heart that extra excitement.

for the cyclists who are urban hdb dwellers, the trip was truly unforgettable.
they encountered many challenges such as sleeping at night with no air-
conditioning, fan or even mosquito nets to protect themselves from the
nocturnal creatures. they were invaded by mosquitoes, insects, bats and
even frogs! to top it all, there was even a power failure and the night was
spent in total darkness.

the ride through the countryside; the scenic lake in the forest; and the
kampung experience with cows, goats, chickens and birds roaming about
freely made up for the challenges they faced during the night. the biggest
reward was the dinner: a delicious spread comprising curry chicken, satay and
other side dishes prepared by azizah, the resident cook of kampung temasek!

Join them for the next ride to tanjong balau, a fshing village near desaru. a
90-minute boat ride from changi Point will take you to tanjong Pengelih, where
you will begin your 60km ride to this seaside resort facing the south china sea.
