Teacher’s Day is often marked by children and teens thanking their school teachers, yet it’s also a chance to recognise the educators who continue to guide us as adults. They may come in many forms — a coach beside us in a fitness session, an instructor leading us through a new hobby or a mentor offering advice on a career decision.
This Teacher’s Day, skip the usual chocolates and stationery, and opt for meaningful, experience-based ways to thank those who have made a difference.
The good news? You can book these experiences at CSC clubhouses and at our affiliate HomeTeamNS — made even more accessible with a special membership promotion for the educators in our lives.

For the fitness and sport coaches who build our strength
They may push us to squeeze in one more rep or run that extra lap, but it’s not just about the workout. Fitness trainers, sport coaches and gym instructors are often the ones reminding us that we’re capable of more than we think.
CSC member Dr Ashutosh Joshi recalls how one fitness coach helped him push past his limits: “With patience and encouragement, he taught me that discipline and perseverance matter just as much as skill.”
For such active educators, an adventurous experience is the perfect thank-you. Challenge your instructor and teammates to a bouldering session at Ground Up Rock Climbing at CSC @ Tessensohn, or gather everyone for a gamified obstacle course at Action Motion, HomeTeamNS Bedok Reservoir, where CSC members enjoy discounted rates under the clubs’ Reciprocal Agreement. There’s also TactSim at HomeTeamNS Khatib, an indoor Airsoft battlefield where you can compete to see who has the sharper aim.

Trying out a different environment can also be a refreshing change for fitness instructors who are more used to gyms or sports halls. Invite them for a day out at CSC @ Bukit Batok’s Water Park with its wave pool and slide tower, or head to Aqua Adventure at HomeTeamNS Bedok Reservoir for its rope course and 85m-long indoor slide.

For the creative and wellness instructors who nurture our confidence
They might guide us through painting, sculpting or yoga, but what they really give us is confidence. Even if we’re clumsy with clay or unsure of our poses, these teachers are there with patience and encouragement, helping us discover new sides of ourselves.
For CSC member Dr Ashutosh Joshi, learning came from home. “My better half taught me not just recipes, but the joy of creating meals with love, patience and a dash of creativity,” he shares.
If your instructor is the artistic sort, a pottery session or pastel painting workshop at CSC makes for a thoughtful thank-you. Sharing the creative space with fellow learners is also a way to honour the one who brought you together and showed that creativity can be for everyone.
For a fun change of pace, plan a bowling session at CSC @ Bukit Batok, CSC @ Tessensohn or CSC @ Changi. If your instructor’s never tried it, you and your classmates could even turn the tables and teach them a new skill. It’s relaxed, full of laughs and a great way to bond.

For the workplace mentors and trainers who guide our professional growth
Some colleagues don’t just climb the ladder — they make sure to extend a hand and bring others along. Workplace mentors and trainers share their experience, offer advice and open doors, shaping the next generation of leaders. From listening to our work struggles to connecting us with opportunities, their impact often lasts far beyond the office.
A thoughtful way to thank them is with a meal. Whether it’s a one-to-one catch-up or a group appreciation lunch, CSC and HomeTeamNS clubhouses offer plenty of halal and non-halal dining options, from Western-style cafés to Asian favourites.

For CSC member Dr Ashutosh Joshi, home is the best place to show his gratitude to his work mentors. “Over dinner at my home, we enjoyed a warm, heart-to-heart conversation. It was special because they also got to meet my family, who had heard so much about them,” he says. “It felt like a meaningful way to show my gratitude and let them know how deeply they had impacted my life.

For the community educators and volunteers who share their time and skills
Outside of classrooms, many community educators and volunteers quietly give their time and talents without expecting anything in return. They teach not just through lessons, but through example — showing us empathy, kindness and the value of community spirit.
CSC member Ms Amy Cheung met dance and ukulele enthusiast Ms Betty Toh by chance at a gardening meetup. “She has been teaching us line dancing for free for more than six years, once a week on Sundays at an HDB void deck or common area in Bukit Gombak,” shares Ms Cheung. “Not only is the lovely Betty a very talented and experienced ballroom dancer, but she also plays the ukulele and sings.”
The informal dance group, now about 18-people strong, made its first public performance at this year’s CSC Stars 2025, line dancing to Lady Gaga’s Always Remember Us This Way.
“Sometimes, people with no background may struggle a bit with the steps, but Betty is very patient and welcomes everyone. It’s a fun experience and we always have more people coming down to try it out,” says Ms Cheung.
After all the dancing, a group wellness break can be a calming, restorative experience. Visit a CSC clubhouse for a spa day or sign up for a group fitness or wellness class — it’s a thoughtful way to say ‘thank you’ by giving your community instructor an opportunity to rest and recharge.
For a more celebratory experience, book a chalet stay. It’s a chance to gather with food, stories and shared memories of learning together. From cosy family-style suites to bigger bungalows perfect for large groups, CSC chalets transform appreciation into a holiday-style getaway.
However you choose to thank the teacher figures in your life, remember that it’s not about the size of the gift, but the thought behind it. A heartfelt message, a shared experience or simply letting them know how much they’ve made a difference can mean more than anything else.
